My setup has been usually the same: a sturdy two-pocket folder, a graph notebook, and a good selection of pencils. This gives you a chance once your session is over to go back over this information and determine how your character internally feels about the events of the session.ģ. Your character finds something out about one of their comrades, what would their thoughts be on this new information…how does this change their relationship with said character? What better way to really ‘learn’ about our character’s personality and motives than compiling their inner thoughts. One of the reasons why D&D is so much fun is creating in-depth characters. Get to know your character’s inner thoughts and motivations. I personally prefer this brand over the expensive moleskin one, there is very little difference between the two, this one is just cheaper.Ģ. I use a bullet grid journal that I purchased at Walmart.
I guess this really follows under number 1, but personally I really just enjoy having a hard physical copy that I can reference during game play. Have a physical/digital way to keep track of things.
The use of both the highlight and tabs allow me to quickly sift though that sessions notes and locate whatever I’m looking for quickly.ġb. I use a coding system to help me keep track of Characters, creatures, locations, items, and important information. Using a campaign journal can help you sift through those notes and compile them in a way that makes sense. We all need to take notes during a session, the thing is they always end up being a hastily scribbled mess with a bunch of random information that’s hard to find important or key parts (or at least mine do anyway).
